Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt targets raising the local content share in car making to 60%. He spoke at the closing ceremony of Egypt Forum 2026.
100,000 cars
Madbouly said Egypt has an industrial base that lets it target making more than 100,000 cars locally within the next 2 or 3 years.
He pointed to factories that had stopped and have been restarted. He said they have started work with global companies to supply different types of cars to the Egyptian market.
Electric cars
The state also plans to expand the assembly and manufacturing of electric cars in the coming period, he said.
