Hegazy Motors, the authorised distributor of the Chinese brand Forthing, opened its newest facility on the Shinzo Abe axis.
A delegation from Forthing Global cut the ribbon. It was led by Liu Shaobing, vice president of Forthing Global. On the Egyptian side was Amr Soliman, chairman of Al Amal for Vehicle Manufacturing and Assembly (AVM), the brand's agent in Egypt. Yasser Hegazy, chairman of Hegazy Motors, received the delegations.
The Forthing Global and AVM delegations praised how well the new site matches the Chinese company's global CI standards. They also praised the investments put in and the sales achieved.
First electric car in April 2027
AVM is preparing to start producing the brand's first electric car locally in April 2027. Soliman said this comes within the development and expansion plan with Forthing Global. He said AVM is adopting a plan to expand its network of distributors and service centres, to support the brand's spread in the Egyptian market.
Liu said April 2027 will see the production of the first Forthing electric car in Egypt. It is part of a series of other cars planned for local assembly in the future.
Egypt as an export base
He said Forthing Global supports its agent AVM and the authorised distributors. The support includes enough production components and spare parts, plus technician training and expertise.
Hegazy Motors plans
Hegazy said the company aims to put in new investments and carry out expansions. They include opening more branches and facilities and raising sales across the car brands it distributes.
