Optra takes second place in Egypt's passenger car licensing, January to August 2026

GM says the locally assembled Optra ranked second among passenger cars licensed in Egypt from January to August 2026, with more than 5,000 units. The 2027 model starts at 765,000 EGP.
General Motors says the Chevrolet Optra sedan was the second most licensed passenger car at Egyptian traffic units in the first 8 months of 2026.
The numbers
According to GM, more than 5,000 Optras were licensed across Egypt between January and the end of August. The company says this supports Chevrolet's lead in the Egyptian market, in both private and commercial segments.
Local assembly
GM had announced the Optra's return to local assembly with Al Mansour Automotive, its Egyptian distributor. It was the first car built under the national automotive industry programme, AIDP.
Prices and trims
According to GM's official prices, the 2027 Optra is available in September in 2 trims:
- LS, the standard trim, from 765,000 EGP.
- LT, the higher trim, at 790,000 EGP.
Specs
- Engine: 1.5 litre, 98 hp, 140 Nm of torque.
- Gearbox: CVT automatic with 8 speeds.
- Boot space: 475 to 910 litres.
- Wheels: 15 inch.
- Screen: 8 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety and equipment
The list includes front airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, a rear camera and tyre pressure monitoring. Outside, it has LED daytime lights, electric mirrors and rear fog lamps. Inside, it has fabric seats and a multifunction steering wheel.
