Egypt car sales climb 29.7% as overprice fades on some new models
In short
Market data shows car sales rose 29.7% to 116,869 in the first 7 months of 2026. Overprice has eased on some models, but prices have not fully settled and move differently by model.
Egypt's new car market is moving in more than one direction at the start of October 2026. That is what the latest market data shows.
Sales are up
According to car market data, sales in the first 7 months of 2026 rose 29.7% to 116,869 cars. Private car sales rose 25%. That points to a better market than in the same period last year.
Overprice is easing on some models
Overprice has fallen on a number of models. Some other models have seen price cuts. That gives buyers a bit more room to negotiate, after a long stretch when street prices ran above the official price.
The range on offer is also wider. New models keep arriving and brands keep competing. Financing offers have appeared too.
Prices are still uneven
Prices have not fully settled. Some models got cheaper, some held their level, and some moved differently. More offers or cuts may still come on certain cars.
What shapes the cost
- Interest rates: for installment buyers, the total cost depends on financing cost, repayment period and down payment, not only the sticker price.
- Exchange rate: it remains a main driver of costs for imported cars and for parts used in local production. Any future move could reach prices, though the direction and size differ by brand and by how the car is imported or assembled.
The overall picture is that no single trend fits every car. The final price and the offers available on each model matter most.
